Ranch Rodeo

Horned cattle will be turned loose in the arena as cowboys and cowgirls ride on horseback to display their abilities performing tasks in a competition-style Ranch Rodeo at the 75th Montana Winter Fair.

Ten teams will be competing in four events: head and heel branding, team sorting and trailer loading, team doctoring, and double mugging. These are tasks that all these cowboys and cowgirls use as they go about their everyday lives on a working ranch.

Amongst the teams competing for part of the prize money, along with other generous awards that have been donated, is the champion team from the 2019 NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals. We also have a team joining us that made their way to the Western States Ranch Rodeo Association National Finals in Winnemucca, Nevada, for the 2019 finals. The competition will be top notch.

The 10 teams will begin to check in at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 25th, and the competition will kick off at 1:00 pm at the Fergus County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Admission is free, so come watch the fun unfold!

Come watch as men, women, and youth from across the state work to preserve the western heritage and lifestyle that is often threatened and forgotten.
