Welcome to the 72nd Montana Winter Fair!
In the dead of winter, during the snowy weeks of January, ranchers and farmers have a brief reprieve before calving and lambing begins. At a time when snow often blankets the world-famous grasslands of our Big Sky Country, winter wheat is sprouting and everything on four legs is carrying a baby. Life is silently growing! The earth is renewing its energy. Montanans are pausing to celebrate the agricultural, outdoor lifestyle we love! Come and join your neighbors this year at the Montana Winter Fair......it’s a great cure for cabin fever!
The Montana Winter Fair, with roots of origin going back to 1946, is a celebration of agriculture and livestock, outdoor recreation and our “western way of life” here in The Big Sky and surrounding states. The Montana Winter Fair, was hosted every January in Bozeman from 1946 through 2002, then the fair moved to Lewistown, the geographic center of the state. The Montana Winter Fair continues to grow each year with participants, young and old, from Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota and beyond.
Twenty-five plus Montana Winter Fair events will be hosted at multiple venues throughout Lewistown, including the Central Montana Fairgrounds, The Eagles, Chokecherry Lane, Brooks Market and the Lewistown Art Center. Everyone is invited to participate in the many varied activities of this year’s Montana Winter Fair: Youth Feeder Steer/All Breeds Heifer Show, Team Sorting, Natural Horsemanship clinic, Canine Good Citizenship Dog Show, Quilt Show, Photography Contest, Farm Forum Presentations, Fiber Arts Show, Trade Show, Vendors, Pinewood Derby, Dutch Oven Cooking & Tasting, Lewistown Bow Hunters Fun Shoot, State Fiddle Contest, Chili Cook-off and Sale, Cupcake Combat Competition, Cinnamon Roll Contest and Sale, Judith Basin Back Country Horsemen Stick Horse Rodeo, Re-Creations Show and Sale, Friday Night Live Concert and Cowboy Church.
